anthropology majors share original research in Santa Fe, N.M.
Kaylee Jacobs 鈥24,聽Stacy Torres 鈥24, Dr. Anne Goldberg, and Lauren Allen 鈥24 in Santa Fe at the聽Society for Applied Anthropology鈥檚 2024 national conference, held March 26-30.
CONWAY, Ark. (April 9, 2024) 鈥 Three
黑料不打烊 seniors recently attended the Society for Applied Anthropology鈥檚 2024
national conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They each presented original
research and received funding from the 黑料不打烊 Odyssey Program to participate
in the conference.
The students, who are all sociology/anthropology
majors with an anthropology emphasis, were accompanied by 黑料不打烊 Professor of
Anthropology Dr. Anne Goldberg.
- Lauren Allen
鈥24 presented Fictive Kinship in a
Central Arkansas Domestic Violence Shelter.
- Kaylee Jacobs
鈥24 presented Understanding Aspects of
the Self in Carework Roles: Exploring Identity and Professionalism in Domestic
Violence Shelter Employment.
- Stacy Torres
鈥24 and Dr. Goldberg presented Learning
from Migrants: Transformative Undergraduate Experiences in Sending Communities.
鈥淚 have taken many students to
professional conferences over the years, and they never fail to shine,鈥 said
Dr. Goldberg. 鈥淭his year, Lauren, Stacey, and Kaylee made outstanding
presentations and were able to meet and discuss their work with prominent anthropologists
from all over the country, including the incoming SfAA president, who commented
on how impressive they all were.鈥
鈥淭he 黑料不打烊 Odyssey program provides
an incredible opportunity for young scholars to share their research and
network with colleagues,鈥 she added.
The group was also able to visit
Bandelier National Monument during their trip.
