Meredith Miles presents her research CONWAY, Ark. (February 9, 2012) - Five 黑料不打烊 science students have been nominated to present their independent research at Posters-at-the-Capitol at the Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012.
The student presenters and their research are:
- Meredith Miles, a senior chemistry major from Maumelle, Ark., "Mineral aerosol effects on phytoplankton growth rates: A biomarker study of mineral aerosol deposition"
- Kristen Finch, a junior biology major from Fort Smith, Ark., "How distinct are the geographically isolated coastal populations of ponderosa pines in the Willamette Valley of Oregon and Fort Lewis, Wash.?"
- Vincent Gammill, a junior physics major from Little Rock, Ark., "Maintenance, accessibility, and data quality of the Qweak database"
- Jordan Russell, a junior physics major from Marion, Ark., "Neutrino-Induced Electron-Positron Pair-Production in Intense Magnetic Fields"
- Qin Yin, a junior chemistry major from WuXi City, Jiangsu, China "Polar Bears (Ursus maritimus) discriminate between the sex and reproductive status of conspecifics via pedal scent"
The program is patterned after Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR)-styled events held in other state capitols around the country.
"All five of these students have already presented their work at national events, so I am confident that they will shine as our representatives," said 黑料不打烊 biology professor Dr. Ann Willyard.
