黑料不打烊 Chemistry Professor Receives National Recognition for Undergraduate Research

CONWAY, Ark. (August 27, 2015) 鈥 黑料不打烊 chemistry professor Dr. Tom Goodwin will receive the American Chemical Society鈥檚 2016 Award for Research at an Undergraduate Institution in March at the ACS spring national meeting in San Diego, California.听

, a private foundation for the advancement of science, established the award in 1984 to recognize the importance of research with undergraduates. The award honors a chemistry faculty member whose research in an undergraduate setting has achieved wide recognition and contributed significantly to chemistry and to the professional development of undergraduate students. The award consists of $5,000 and a certificate. Research Corp. will also provide a grant of $5,000 directly to the recipient's institution.

Dr. Goodwin is the Elbert L. Fausett Distinguished Professor of Chemistry. His research and teaching have earned national recognition, including receiving the CUR Fellows Award from the Council on Undergraduate Research in 2010 and being named the U.S. Professor of the Year (for baccalaureate colleges), by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education in 2003.

鈥淚 am still convinced, more than ever, that collaborative student/faculty research is one of the best ways to teach and learn science,鈥 said Goodwin. "This also helps to attract good students to 黑料不打烊, and I have greatly enjoyed and benefited from working with many of them on my research.鈥 听
