Highlight quote

"Learn some computer programming -- it's a skill that's useful in academics and necessary in industry"

Current projects

I teach half-time and do research the other half of my time. Currently I am teaching calculus II and III, and I have two ongoing research projects in which I am collaborating with colleagues at Rice and Wesleyan Universities.

Undergraduate Research

Duff Campbell supervised me throughout two undergraduate research projects at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. The first project didn't really work out, but the second turned into my senior thesis. I also participated in a summer "REU" at Texas A&M University.

How ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ prepared me for success

In addition to doing research, I was involved in the help center at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. Doing these two activities as an undergrad helped me to find the right balance of these two activities in my current job.

Future plans

Eventually I would like to get a tenure-track professorship at a school where I can pursue my research interests while educating the next generation of mathematicians.

My advice

Don't be afraid to explore your mathematical interests outside of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ curriculum — whether it's math history or an advanced subject. Also, learn some computer programming — it's a skill that's useful in academics and necessary in industry.
